FAC condition
Hi all
I have a 308 slot available on my ticket, and at the moment I'm having a look for an inexpensive range rifle.
Quite a few I have looked at are classified as 7.62 so would I be able to buy one of these against my 308 slot, or would I need to go through the hassle of getting the allowance changed to 308/7.62
Cheers

Re: FAC condition
Best to check with your firearms certification department see how they view it.
Some dealers will put a 7.62 on a 308 slot and vice versa, some won't.

Seems as though there is a lot of variation depending on which force you are under, West Mercia won't allow a 7.62x54r or 7.62x39 on a .308/7.62 slot for example. It seems they prefer the actual calibre/chambering rather than just the caliber.dromia wrote:Best to check with your firearms certification department see how they view it.

More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!

I was thinking I was heading into the lottery of interpretation of guidance when I asked the question
Looks like a call to the FLD to see how they see it

Re: FAC condition
My ticket came back with 7.62 bolt action rifle on it (plus 7.62 ammunition) which in theory meant I could buy a 7.62x51 or a Mosin although I didn't test this out! A dealer I spoke to said he wouldn't sell me .308 ammunition though. When I applied for an additional .22 rifle I asked for them to change it to 7.62/.308 which they did with no dramas.
Re: FAC condition
Bedfordshire usually give you .308/7,62x51 and Lincolnshire did the same with some prompting...
Re: FAC condition
GMP told me I had to have .308/7.62 on my licence for both rifle & ammo. So that's what I did, in my variation I've put .224/5.56 for both too.
