Re: New type of lever release rifle
Not to the best of my knowledge, all the patent related websites don't list Bob or SGC as patent holders. Also the Lever release design pre-dated SGC, being used in a double 1911 LBP that never got beyond the prototype stage (plus a conversation I had with a dealer who knows Peter Starley, I asked about what had happened to his lever release LBP and the fact he had given up due to technical stuff and the like came up, but never patent issues). So it's likely public domain, this might lead to more coming on the market and possibly more ambidextrous friendly ones. I'm guessing Verney Carron's first market is France where Semi's can't be used for hunting and Germany where semi's have to have a 2 round mag while hunting (no limit for manuals when hunting I guess?).zanes wrote:Do SGC not hold the patent on lever release?
It's a nice development and the rifle would be a good Wild Boar gun for the Uk.

Looks interesting. Probably would make for a decent big-game rifle in a suitable calibre.....

One in 30.06 would be nice, looks to be well thought out.

Variety is the spice of life
Would only really work for traditional layout rifles with the reach-around (giggety) design. My only 'concern' would be with reaching over the receiver with your thumb it would make it next to impossible to remove your finger from inside the trigger guard and in the heat of the moment you may inadvertently touch the trigger

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: New type of lever release rifle
Is it just me or does it look like the release is where it should be for a left, on a SGC 9mm and 223, release for a righty is on the left side while lefty is on the right due to where your thumb is. Does anyone notice that? Also and this one is for snayperskaya, any idea if Molot as they can still sell stuff unlike Saiga could incorporate this or something similar into a rifle? And let me guess the love of 30.06 between you and Sim? A guilty pleasure
or the love of a round that some may call the man-maker?

Nice idea ... and nicely worked in family Guy reference!

Re: New type of lever release rifle
I think that you may be mistaken with France. I'm fairly sure that I have seen them used on driven hunts. You can I believe use a semi-auto rifle but like most of Europe the magazine capacity is limited so a total of three rounds. What the thumb release does is allow for the use of larger capacity magazines. Think about the Browning Maral for instance. It's basically a manually operated Browning BAR. The BAR is restricted to 3 rounds but the Maral can have a 10 round magazine.Sixshot6 wrote:[ I'm guessing Verney Carron's first market is France where Semi's can't be used for hunting and Germany where semi's have to have a 2 round mag while hunting (no limit for manuals when hunting I guess?).
