As above, my FAC is in for correction as my FLD made some mistakes, been hoping to move a gun onto a friends FAC, can I still do this with a photocopy?

The sale is put onto his FAC not yours....
Don't see the problem.

As far as i know, you dont need your fac to sell your gun.
You only need the buyers fac to write on the transfer.
But you still need to notify the plod what was transfered and who to.

And as the seller you need to send in your FAC again if you want the slot freed up.

So probably best to do it whilst they have it anyway..?lasbrisas wrote:And as the seller you need to send in your FAC again if you want the slot freed up.

That was my thought, called my FLD and they got in a grump over it saying that the seller won't know whether or not I have an FAC, just left me confused as I've bought a rifle from a police officer in exactly the same circumstances.

It shouldn't be a problem to sell a firearm....... but the one thing that no one has mentioned yet is that you need to know your FAC number so as to write it onto the certificate of the person who is buying the firearm.
Before I send in my FAC / SGC certs for renewal or a variation I always make sure I have a copy of my licence number locked securely away in a safe. I also have the info in a phone app called safe-keeper.

Last time I did a variation I sent them a photocopy and said I need the original as I'm shooting in a PSG comp, also recently there has been an additional slip of paper with the renewal forms they post to you (surrey) saying something to the effect that you can do this.HH1 wrote:It shouldn't be a problem to sell a firearm....... but the one thing that no one has mentioned yet is that you need to know your FAC number so as to write it onto the certificate of the person who is buying the firearm.

I think if I was buying a firearm I'd want reassurance that the seller is legally entitled to posses it in the first place.

I think dave_303 implied he has a photocopy of his FAC.
Also the buyer could just phone the sellers local firearms office and confirm it.
