I AM sorry that his daughter was murdered by Hamilton. ... we ALL are, but it upsets me to see the lie about "gun crime is down now because of the ban."
I expect the press hounds to be baying now the 20th anniversary is here -----Victoria Derbyshire started it last week ---- BBC of course!
Perhaps the National Associations might attempt to put OUR side of the case?

Actually gun crime is not down to the levels before the ban. Handgun crime actually went up--some estimated it to increase to 400%. Gun crime is decreasing now, but has some way to go to reach pre-1997 levels.
The reason? When you ban something, you create a market for criminals. When I was a teenager, drug use in this country was almost non-existent. Bans, coupled to a media campaign and we have todays situation. Nobody learned from the effects of alcohol prohibition in the USA.

Gun crime isn't down at all, complete rubbish.

"Between April 2014 and March 2015 there were 4912 firearms offences (excluding air weapons) in England and Wales. This is a one per cent increase compared with 4856 offences the previous year.

Of the 4912 recorded firearms offences in the 12 month period the majority of those (2,062) involved handguns. A smaller number of incidents (431) involved shotguns."

Dunblane was a heinous act as we all know but it was wholly preventable had Police Scotland done their job. The 20th anniversary is coming up and we mustn't allow anybody to be under the illusion that the blame lies squarely at Hamilton and Police Scotland's door.
