I have been reading the posts since joining the forum and I get the feeling there are some really clued up people here.
So I have a question .308 a common caliber what are your favourite loads.
To start you off
155g Hornady A max 43.2grains of N140.

155g Hornady A max 43.2grains of N140.
146 NATO type - 44.1 grains SP9 - Fed brass Plinking to 800
155 Lapua Scenar Moly 47.5 grains N540 - Lap brass Long range
167 Lapua Scenar - 42.1 grains N140 - Lap brass Accuracy load for McQueens
170 Lapua Lockbase - 47.1 grains N540 - Lap brass Long range

The Lockbase should be even better with 48.5ish grains of N550 but I am yet to try.

Check your OAL first, I build out to 2.890" and more as my magazine will take the length, pressures will be up a fair bit if you go shorter.

I will sort my COAL's out and post them up, but remember these are for my rifle so take care!

My pet load was 42gn N140 with 168gn SMK's.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I think 2.890 is probably the max for the size of my magazine.

Aren't COAL's given by the powder/bullet manufacturers on their loading specs? I know that the Lapua Scenar 155gr is supposed to be 2.795" (or 2.800" can't remember).
