Gun Trade Assc latest news.....
I have just seen on a well known dealers website that the Gun Trade Association have confirmed that the planned legislation in Europe will not effect UK straight pull firearms such as AKs and ARs etc.
Can anyone confirm this, as the GTA website doesn't seem to be working.

as the thing hasn't been finalised yet, thats a bit of a sweeping statement...
does a straight pull AK look like a full auto AK? if so, atm, from what we have all seen, it will be affected....

Adam - http://www.rusmilitary.com/ on the front page around halfway down. We have certainly not been made aware of the EU side of things by the GTA however I am aware of TNT price increases for a new service whenever it happens. This is broadly in line with the new Parcelforce 'Secure AM' which put around GBP4.00 on a shipment. Interestingly PF will ship 30kgs for the base price whereas TNT are 18kgs (From memory)

Thanks, I haven't had that communicated to me by the GTA either.
On the other hand I haven't asked either.

As currently written, the proposal is to ban semi-automatic firearms which look similar to those with an automatic capability. The key wording of the ban, at clause 13(a)(i):bradaz11 wrote:as the thing hasn't been finalised yet, thats a bit of a sweeping statement...
does a straight pull AK look like a full auto AK? if so, atm, from what we have all seen, it will be affected....
"Semi-automatic firearms for civilian use which resemble weapons with automatic mechanisms"
Ergo, straight-pulls would not be included at present. Of course, the proposal is opaque in many places, particularly the phrase "resemble", and is subject to review/re-wording - having not yet been finalised.
