Section 1 shotgun " Good Reason "

#1 Post by JackDavis »

Just became a member of four4islands which is now classed as good reason!

This is an extract from there website

The Home Office guidance to the Police has been revised recently, specifically covering the area of “good reason” to possess certain types of firearm. Good reason to possess a Section 1 shotgun now includes being a member of the NRA or an NRA-affiliated club. Four4islands Club is NRA-affiliated and therefore membership provides you with good reason to posses a Section 1 shotgun for target or practical styles of shooting.

£20 a year and you get all the same insurance as BASC!

In the three years since we founded F4i we have over 600 members of the website and forum and are now building on that success by offering regular shooting club membership.

Subscription to the club is of course optional and non-members will still have access to the website and forum as you do now.

However, membership of Four4islands Club brings additional benefits, not the least of which is shooting insurance cover.

For those of you who subscribe to organisations such as BASC or NRA just to obtain insurance cover, this has to be your better option as the policy (Bannerman Rendell) is the same as used by these organisations and we are offering cover together with many other benefits at a fraction of the price.

Membership subscription is £20 per 12-months (rolling on joining date) and includes the following benefits:

• Public liability (£10m) and personal accident (£30k) insurance for any shooting activity in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man

• NRA competency assessment and issue of NRA Shooters’ Card (all disciplines)

• Access to F4i events at NSC Bisley

• Priority bookings for USA/Europe shooting trips

• Access to a Members Only section on the forum

• F4i Club special merchandise (clothing and shooting accessories)

Check them out Guys!

GMP did not recognise Four Islands membership as good reason.

My main club is UKPSA affiliated, which they did recognise as good reason.

Just very little commonality across the regions as to what they deem to find as good reason.

Have a read of this pal, it clearly states the fourislands is good reason

Even tells you to get the UKPSA-only clauses removed and gives you a link to the document to show your FEO if they resist!

It's still up to your local FEO. Sending twenty quid to someone on the Internet from your bedroom is not the same as being an active member at a club. Your FEO might also quite reasonably suggest that showing records of attendance or completion of training sessions would be good supporting evidence.

Depends on your force (which obviously it shouldn't...)

I have a club which I attend on a pay and shoot service with the facilities for target and practical shotgun shooting so this is to strengthen my variation showing that I am also a member of an NRA affiliated club

I am also a F4i member, or was apart from this year, and F4i membership held no water with Manchester. They insist that it be a club that you actually attend as a member that holds PSG courses of fire. Been down this road with other people in one of my other clubs and no matter what F4i write and proclaim, the FEO has the final word.

No had the issue myself as I did the UKPSA safety course back in 2011 when I first joined Rossendale, which holds one F4i or one UKPSA match a year depending.

Beds and Herts are one of the better regions.
I have my renewed FAC sitting here, it took two weeks and the 'old' one doesn't run out until December (I was told get it in 6 months early just to be on the safe side). The minor omission was corrected while I was on the phone and a replacement arrived the next day.

Just belonging to an NRA affiliated club is (should be) good enough reason as stated in the HO Guidance. Then you can shoot and any open competition run by another NRA affiliated club or at Bisley itself.
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
