Trooper Class

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

I was watching the latest Inrange TV video from Ian McCollum (Forgotten Weapons) and Karl Kasarda. last night. They were shooting a three gun competition shot with a rifle only and the competition was shot with AR15 type things. The part that caught my eye was they were both shooting in something called 'Trooper Class'

Basically it is like a marathon class, so you have to carry everything you will use for the days competition and that includes spares, magazines, ammunition, food and water. If you accept even a drink from someone you are disqualified from the class. So if you need 125 rounds for the course of fire you will need to make provision to carry the whole lot, same goes for the rifle, if you feel the need for back up sights then so be it however they need to be on the rifle from the start.

An interesting concept and something that could easily be added into to some of the existing UK disciplines.

Sounds good!

Seems like the kind of thing you'd want to do with a long walk between targets. Not sure where you could set up field targets and walk round with rifles all day though in the UK :( We suffer from a lack of land.

The premise is awesome though! Wouldn't mind a go at it!

That sounds a very interesting idea. One of the issues I have with "service rifle" shooting style competitions is that competitors never carry anything near in weight and equipment that a actual serviceman would carry on their person during exercise or on active service.
