To be fair I always thought with no declarations of war, even calling on action war was on shaky grounds anyway.

I kinda like this Guys train of thought....

I never did understand all this undo suffering bullsh t , I know we aren’t killing Bambi here . We are talking about shooting humans that have cogitative skills and can understand what they’re involved in and do want to kill us first , and in the case of our most recent threats , also want to rape and kill our wives , sell our daughters into sex slavery and whack off our heads if we don’t kneel down before what’s his name . I don’t now or have I ever seen a need to be as humane as possible in our kills . I say we should blast the gun out of their mits , catch em and cut off both their hands and their breeding tools and send them back where they come from so they can spread the word

Do what Hartigan does to Yellow b****** in Sin City then? And I've never seen the need to be nice. I know we're the good guy's but, they're scumbags, vermin and the wouldn't give us a chance so time to make them realize we've heard the rules have changed..... and we're upping our game. Plus if there is no problem in law enforcement usage (including during a terrorist attack) I see no reason to change when its army. Plus we don't issue war declarations any more or even fight a traditional war, those rules have no real application or sense and I can understand the lawyers point, who's going to being the US to the criminal court that they didn't sign up to, or the war crimes court they are....... "crickets".

Be nice to a jihadi, make the world a nicer place by removing them from it. See how nicer it is for the people they terrorize, kill and maim when this happens.

Military - as we all know- is bound by the Hague Concention and so expanding ammo cannot be used in WAR.

However the military CAN use expnding ammo against terrorists, civilians and everyday criminals. As long as it is not a war it's OK - though they may have scuppered themselves using them in the "WAR on terror" lol lol !

I believe they are already using HPBT match rifle ammo... that just happens to expand...

Given the use of DU, the fragile 5.56x45 round, .50cal sniper rifles, thermobaric devices etc one would think that HP pistol ammo was pretty tame.

Dont forgot Hydrogen, neutron and any other nuclear bombs. Plus like I said I thought regardless of the word war used you needed a declaration? The Vietnam War famously didn't have one and was a "police action" in some eyes. So just keep those declarations away and use whatever the hell you like. And HPBT being expanding or not? Well they never ask for expanding authority when we buy and many here have bought it for target use so that's the defense (I was perplexed the first time I saw it used by someone I knew didn't have that on his ticket for hunting but was soon set straight).

I read a good argument regarding "the rules of war". It was arguing that killing is bad for both parties involved in the war. And I guess applies to why hollow points are frowned upon (also why the Germans tried to have shotguns "trench guns" banned).

If you kill an enemy then the battle continues and the body will be recovered at some point (hollow point).

But if you wound him enough to stop him but also increases chances of survivability (FMJ).

1) He needs to be attended to by medics (1-3 people typically).
2) He needs to be evacuated (god only know how much work this involves).
3) He will use medical resources.
4) He gets home as a billboard for war is bad.
5) He can help rebuild the country once the war is over (we don't want to leave a festering country in tatters look to Afghanistan post soviet involvement).

So actually killing the combatants is in no-ones best interests "Every life lost, is another to avenge".

Not to mention that increasingly daesh are seen wearing body armour.

Just an interesting theory I heard from an economist of all people.
