M1907 Sling

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

Can anyone recommend a good UK source for an M1907 sling with sewn keepers. Reproduction is fine but it needs to be a faithful reproduction but without the original stamps and numbers on it.

If you have one that can be copied, take it to a descent saddle makers and get them to make you one. Should be a lot cheaper than an 'off the shelf' sling. I did that a couple of years ago at a local saddle maker. It only cost a couple of hours labour, as the leather used was offcuts that would have been binned.

It did cross my mind but I don't have spare metal frogs for the ends.

If any one fancies trying their hand at leather work I bought my leather from here https://www.tandyleatherfactory.co.uk/home/home.aspx
They have some good stuff including kits for holsters .

I have a similar sling that used to sit on my SMLE. I was after the M1907 or National Match Rifle type sling as they offer support in different positions and it will be fitted to a competition rifle.

I have found a few UK ones but they either have milstamps or have cheap frogs bendy on them. The annoying part is I can get a decent one for under fourty quid from the USofA but probably end either paying twice that to get it here or waiting 4 months.
