What is the legal position on possession of Live Blank rounds? Still crimped and unused?

Legal/illegal?

Not on my phone!

A friend has come into possession of a few - 7.62 s I believe, and I believe they are exempt but he has other advice saying they are not.

As far as i'm aware unless they were criminalised in the 2006 VCR act, they're legal as long as they're not more than 2" in diameter, so pistol/rifle calibre blanks are fine to have. If you're stopped and found with them on you i'd expect you'd have to provide a 'good reason' to keep them, even though they're not illegal

Thanks - I thought it was 1" but these are way smaller! The other "adviser" is saying that he he breaking the law and should destroy them, not to go to the police or he will be arrested, face 5 years in jail &c &c
