Mosin Nagant Bent Bolt
After a little soul searching I have decided I need optics on the trusty steed.
I don’t fancy long eye relief scope or a PU scope, nor do I want to drill n tap.
The jmeck mount I want requires a bent bolt, any ideas of what I can do, it would require professional services……?
Regards
Chris

Yeah, I know, I know.
I've not discounted a PU scope as such, just the long eye relief scope and the scout scope range.
mmmmm........

Leave well alone with the rifle, appreciate it as it is for what it is.
If you want itty bitty repeatable boring sub MOA groups then buy a Tikka or an AI or whatever with some quality glass.
If you must have glass on a Moisin then get a "sniper" or look for one that someone else has already butchered.

Re: Mosin Nagant Bent Bolt
as Dromia said, if it was me I would leave it as is and find an original sniper or one that someone has already scoped......if you really want to scope the one you have go for an original PU scope and mount, granted you will pay more but the Chinese copies on Ebay etc tend to fall apart after a while (cue folks who've fired thousands of rounds with one and it hasn't fallen to bits) and it will look correct.
I had a Romanian M44 carbine that came with one of those "no gunsmith" scope mounts that replace the rear sight and a NCstar long eye relief scope but it wouldn't hold zero as the mount kept moving (despite loctite, two ton of torque on the fasteners etc) and the scope fell to bits in next to no time so an original rear sight leaf was quickly fitted!.

Re: Mosin Nagant Bent Bolt
I know a dealer who has an ex- sniper that still has it's bent bolt if you're interested.

Stick it in an Archangel stock too :-)
Ignore the fuds, break the mould! If rifles were meant to be shot unmolested we wouldn't have half of the rifles we have, let alone Finnish mosins!

Re: Mosin Nagant Bent Bolt
While I agree that it's his rifle and he can do what he wants to it I think that the point is he wants to make the rifle more accurate. Crappy scope mounts + bent bolt + plastic stock will only ever equal an expensive rifle shaped object.
None of the mods carried out by the Finns ever created a less accurate or more fragile rifle. They certainly did not decrease the value of them either.
