Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Paid Stalk recommendations.

#1 Post by raybrown53 »

Hi All

Looking for some stalking opportunities (Cull animals fine not really fussed with the trophy side of things, meat on the table appeals to me more). Can anybody recommend (prefer word of mouth rather than randomly picking from the various outfits on the net) someone who is honest and reasonably priced. I don't have access to my own land so my only option is paid stalks.

Thanks in advance

Ray

Lee Jackson in Salisbury is a good guy. As is Colin Solwaystalker on the Solway.
Let me know if you need some numbers.
Be worth looking on the Stalking Directory though.
Be aware of hidden extras!
Drop me a PM and ill take you for a day on the Roe bucks.

Go to the UK varminting forum and post your question to 'Tiff' - he offers (I believe) stalking if E Cornwall is not too far away for you

He is well respected

Ian Farrington (IanF) on the stalking directory, ask him the price and he will list everything, I did my first stalk with him, and make it a point to go down for the Fallow rut, a very knowledgable chap with a dry sense of humour and very good with instructions on rifle handling in the field, in fact worth going for one of his training sessions as well.
