Illinois - Anything good shooting wise to do?

#1 Post by phaedra1106 »

Well, after 14 years of hopping back and forth visiting friends and collecting huge amounts of shooting bits from my friends place in Sunny Florida it's all coming to an end :bad:

The family are all moving in stages back up to not-sunny-at-all-Illinois. So, the question is, is there anything exciting to do shooting wise?, they're probably moving to the Champaign area as my friends son-in-law is going to be doing his masters at University of Illinois

Keep in mind that when it comes to shooting, Illinois has lots of restrictions and isn't exactly a gun/shooting friendly State. Shame it isn't Michigan, much more gun friendly.

It's Illinois, they'll revoke FOID cards for the slightest reason. Like I said previously, a very anti gun State. Chicago was mighty peeved when the US Supreme court degreed that they had to issue concealed carry permits and even then they made the process for getting a CPL very difficult. They will not allow CPL holders from other States to conceal carry in Illinois.

I was in a North Chicago gun shop and they wouldn't even let me handle any guns without a FOID card.

You're only a few hours at most away from Indiana which seems to be a lot less restrictive.... ;)

Believe me, after being crammed into a flying metal sausage for 8 to 9-1/2 hours me going anywhere further than 30-45mins drive is not a good idea!.
