Slight note of interest

#1 Post by Sixshot6 »

I didn't know where to post this, so if it has to go to general Discussion please move it there Dromia. But here goes. Ok, I'm contact over another forum with a gunsmith/dealer in Connecticut US. He has something that he's working on and he asked me for links to uk legislation to see if what he wants to do can be sold in the uk (he is basically operating out of his garage). If he is good and he thinks its legal, he may be interested in trying to sell it in the uk (his main area is to sell it in CT to deal with current laws that the state has). He doesn't want to publicly announce until after the middle of June at least due how the CT politicians work with legislative sessions (when Stag arms announced the 22 ar's they changed the law quickly to restrict rimfires to the old 1 feature law that centrefire semis used to be under, its why in CT they are sold with a pinned brake and fixed stock). He's gonna get back to me later on after he's reviewed the links to UK legislation and guidelines to see if his system will be good to go for here and such.

My main thing to ask is if its all good are there any dealers/distributors that can hold his hand through the process of bringing them to the UK that I can put him in touch with and help him to bring his creation here? Someone that can act as importer/distributor/dealer (if needed)? I'll also add that I will only reveal what he wants me to reveal until he feels so, but if someone could help me to help him (and ourselves at the end of the day) that would be grand.

Yes licensable items, he wouldn't be interested if he didn't think it was. Like I said if he thinks its legal. He wants to export and since he's never done it, that is why he needs the help. He is halfway there with a manufacturing permit.

Far too vague I am sorry - you need to be VERY specific as the laws are also VERY specific depending on the nature of the items.

I'll give you a clue saddler and keep in mind I've explained why he can't reveal concrete details until middle-late June (the over zealous CT politicians). Its from what he described a interrupted bolt system to make something close to a self-loader sale-able (his initial idea was to give something with all the whistles and bells (pistol grip, collapsing stock, flash hider, etc) and skirt round the CT definition of am "Assault Weapon", which in CT is written in a way to make anything AR related illegal (even the New york and California ones) due to their definition of action (where the charging handle starts). The only exceptions there right now are Preban (pre 13/09/1994), Rimfire (17 wsm included), fixed mag (as in fixed in rifle, no bullet button like CA), manual op (Bolt action, pump action, etc) and from our conversations, things like the MARS cannot fly due to a US federal language stating use of the trigger still makes a semi-auto and he thinks due to no definition in the state law, the federal one would be used in court. So he's making a system that goes beyond that and if its the case, then maybe like whatever Lantac is doing it can be uk sale-able. That is why I linked him legislation and guidelines. When he comes back to me after he has reviewed it (he doesn't have his main shop in Hartford, CT open that often) so today he is reviewing. That means I could hear, tonight, Monday or Tuesday to Wednesday (time difference allowed). If he thinks it is ok. I'll exchange his details to any dealers/agents/distributors interested.

Also what I can explain is based on what he will tell me, due to his own (not wanting politicians to pounce on him, look what happened in CT when Stag Arms introduced the 22 AR's) desire to keep things quiet when the legislators are not in session, which will run for another month and a bit. Does explain things enough for you Saddler?

If you read my previous comment I answered Saddler and it should answer your query. Anything else I'll try and answer to the best of what I know. When I hear next from the fella after he's reviewed UK legislation. I'll let you all know then.

Also if he comes back to me with yes. His reading of it makes it legal. You or any other dealer/like minded people will have to hammer out details with him and get samples tested by the relevant authorities. Since the FSS wen't who are these now?

Wanted to add I have had at least one interested dealer and any other interest should be directed to me via private messaging. This dealer who messaged me first shall get the first stab at contacting the CT dealer though.
