Scope for K31

#1 Post by tarantulaman »

Hi,

I have tried searching the forum and can't quite find what I am looking for. I have the clamp on scope mount for my Swiss K31 and am now looking for a scope to go with it.

For now I only want to spend around £250 and would like target turrets (although do they make much of a difference?). In addition I guess I need front parallax adjustment as the scope will be offset and I don't want to interfere with ejection. I don't know is this is a real problem though as I have only used the iron sights so far.

Can anyone recommend something that might be suitable?

Also what scope mounts would be a good match?

Thanks,

Dave

What best results came up on a Google search?
Which military rifle forums (with Swiss Rifle groups on them) did you check?

I'd be surprised if there were that many K31 users on here that've scoped them.

It is just something for a bit of fun really, just to make a change from the iron sights.

I have looked at the swissrifles forum mainly and there were various mentions of Hawke/Nikon/Bushnell scopes.

But the main issue I am having is finding something with target turrets for the amount of money I want to spend. But I am not sure if they are worth it or not. I have only really used a scope on an air rifle so no comparison really.

Just trying to find more opinions really.

I've got the side mounts off eBay for it,£65 ISH? I've got a meopta 3xpower,nice old thing that looks the part, he's got a few up user name kevininuk, if u buy the mount kit that goes on top with the bent over scope holders rings then the empty will not come out,you will have to pull em out.....

I have a 3-9x40 Hawke `Frontier` scope fitted to mine with a mil-dot reticule. It has no parallax adjustment, but it is good enough to enable me to knock down fig 11's out to 800 yards with it.

The mounts are 25mm to centre, which gives enough clearance to still adjust the iron sights to 700m without removing the scope and mount.

I find taking a `chin` weld to the stock is comfortable and eye to scope alignment is no problem.

Although the Hawke is a budget scope, the optics are pretty good and it has withstood the recoil of several hundred rounds without issue.

The Swiss products mount on my rifle, is an excellent piece of kit and has never worked loose, I also have the SP bolt on muzzle brake which is also very high quality.

I found that a couple of layers of electricians tape stuck to the scope protected the scope from ejected cases, which tend to hit it if ejected smartly.

Thanks, I will take another look at the Hawke scopes. I like the look of the Vortex ones too.

The Swiss Products mount certainly looks great, I am very happy with mine, not fitted it yet though. The muzzle break looks really good too but so far I have not found one in the UK (I have not searched extensively yet though). I love the idea of the electrical tape to protect the scope too.

You lot are going to burn in hell. I recently saw a scoped 1911. I almost cried, he'd permanently mounted the scope base.

I've tried a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33mm (with the Accu-Range reticle) (just for fun).

It has 1/4 MOA windage and elevation adjustment, generous eye relief and it's rugged.

Very good scope for the money (and does not carry the "Made in China" mark of shame).

Works well with BKL 1" double strap rings to fit the 11mm dovetail on the clamp-on mount.

I use a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 x40 on my K31. It's attached via the excellent Swiss Products mount and can be removed in a couple of minutes if required. When refitting, the zero is never far away from its original setting.
The combination is very good out to 600 and beyond.
