I have a BSA CF2 Stutzen in .243 I want to start loading for. At the moment I am using Federal 100grain soft points, a bit expensive at £26 for 20. Does anybody have any simular load data. I some reloading but not for this . Thanks

Buy a good handloading manual first with pressure tested data so that you have a sound reference point to enable you assess any internet recipes you may be offered.
If you have a manual already what does it recommend?

Sierra Pro Hunters are available a lot cheaper than that, and in .308 I have never had any complaints about their accuracy or effectiveness.AL8 wrote:I have a BSA CF2 Stutzen in .243 I want to start loading for. Seriously?!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: BSA .243 loading info required
You shouldn't even be considering hand loading without a good manual released by a reloading, powder or bullet manufacturer of high repute e.g.:
BTW you will need load data for the .243 Winchester cartridge specifically and not for the .243 BSA CF2 Stutzen.

- Sierra
- Speer
- Barnes

Re: BSA .243 loading info required
the only load data I have is for viht powders as that is what I use for my 308 and my 7.5x55, hence the question.
Re: BSA .243 loading info required
And you've reloaded for both of these without first reading a reloading manual?????AL8 wrote:the only load data I have is for viht powders as that is what I use for my 308 and my 7.5x55, hence the question.

Don't bother to go looking for one specifically for a BSA.243w stutzen because one has never been printed.

Don't be mean buy a good reloading manual and read it, you won't regret it. Even the Lee manual at £20 could save you an awful lot of heartache and trouble. Every reloader should have at least one good reloading manual.
Re: BSA .243 loading info required
You can get free basic manuals from the main powder makers.
There is also a lot of published data online, fron the bullet makers....and as you're using Viht powder, then try their website.
(They publish a free pamphlet too, plus a very detailed hardback manual)
The hardback Viht manual is good, but seems to favour European bullet brands.
I'd be tempted to suggest that manual AND a second like the Lyman
