Range Hire charges

#1 Post by Triffid »

Following on the 'Target Club fees' thread, for those clubs that hire ranges from other clubs, how much do you pay?

The reason I ask is that my club, which hires another club's gallery range every Friday evening, has just been told that the hire is going up from £900 per year to £2200. We are a small club and even the £900 accounts for a large proportion of our members' annual subs'; £2200 is untenable for us. It would be very useful to have some examples of what other clubs pay for range hire.

Thanks in advance

Yes it is a huge hike, but it is still only £44 / week now, which is far cheaper than any MOD range.

How many lanes does the range have and at what distance?

that looks like they dont want you shooting there and are just trying to price you out of it.

The range we use one night a week costs about 3 grand pa to lease from the council & the range owners rent a night to us for a 5er a head up to 40 quid (after that we keep the excess & it pays for targets etc). we can shoot from 5-6 till 9 ish.

The range is 100yds long & 45 firing points wide! lollol That's a good deal in my view.

We hire out ours at £50 a day.

I hate to say this Triffid, but the £2200 is only just over £42 per week.
I guess the membership is getting 'free' range hire on the night, by that I mean the cost is covered in the annual membership fee.
If you charge each shooter £3.00 for the night's shooting then you only need 13 members turn up to clear the range fee (charge £5.00 per night and less people will be needed to turn up to cover costs - actual fee would depend upon usual regular turn-out).
Your annual membership could, maybe, be reduced to cover the cost of insurance, affiliations, etc. and the range hire paid for by individuals on the night.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

Thanks for the replies all.
I don't really want to get involved in the detail or our options, but like I said we're a small club and the rent hike is a shock.

What I really need are some real-life examples of what the going-rate is that clubs are paying for range hire, to help in our negotiations.

10 lanes on an MOD gallery range is just short of £500/day.
Plus your annual range licence.
