Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

I reckon the 6,5 x 47 is marginal on velocity and energy, the 6,5 x 55 is far superior.

6,5 x 55 has been renowned for being easy on the shoulder.
A good choice for stalking.

6.5x55 is a fine hunting round. Known even to drop elk in Scandanavia.

I've got a dozen cartridge cases you could have AND a die set in 6,5 x 54.

Are you sure that die set isn't the one you sold me.
A dozen cases is neither use nor ornament.
I've got a hundred or so Dominion Berdan cases if you are interested, some primed. I know how you like those Berdan jobbies.

Re: 6.5x47 or 6.5x55 for hunting?
One of the mechanics at the local garage has both 6.5x47 and 6.5x55. He was expecting to be able replace his 6.5x55 for all his deer shooting with the 6.5x47, but it hasn't worked out that way.
For him, he found that the 6.5x47 was marginal for Fallow with 120 gn ammunition, but for the smaller species and fox it is fantastic. He has kept the 6.5x55 for the larger deer species and the '47 for Roe and Fox.
Ovenpaa,
If you're interested I might be selling my 6.5x55 in the near future as it's looking like I'll have to give up deer stalking due to injury.
