Beginner's guide to reloading

#1 Post by Gaz »

Is there such a thing as a beginner's guide to reloading? I tried Google but very quickly gave up as every American with an internet connection seems to have written a "basic guide", each of which rapidly started talking about progressive presses, turret presses, case lube and other such things I simply don't understand just yet.

What I'm looking for is something simple, preferably with pictures, that'll take me through the basics of reloading with a simple hand press. I don't intend doing any reloading myself until I've found a mentor who'll go through how it all works with me so I can ask all the bone questions.

I got a lot of my initial tuition for reloading from an RCBS / Speer reloading manual. I read the sections on reloading multiple times, until I was sure I understood. It gave me enough knowledge and confidence to start reloading without further guidance from a mentor. This was in the early '90s, and so far, nothing serious has gone wrong with my reloads, and there have been a fair few made with my progressive press over that time -- well over 30,000 rounds.

Have a look at 'spud1967'
I watched a couple of videos on there the other day, seemed quite good as a basic intro

Gaz, if SimG's post doesn't explain it enough, you're welcome to pop over if you are near Cambridge and I'll run you through how I do it.
