.303 1945/55 MkVII ammo

What would you do?

I have come across a small amount of LIVE 1945 head stamp GB & RL & 1955 RG .303 MkVII ammo in original 32 round cardboard cartons (seals opened) only the RG carton year matches the ammo year. Questions are would you shoot it or keep as a collectable, and whats it worth now... I do have .303 on my FAC by the way.

Shoot it! you might be surprised how good it is. It will be worth very little, may be 10p a round.
I am fortunate in that I have about 100 rnds of Royal Laboritories .303 Streamline and that is very collectible. To the right person £500+

Keep it. Worth, well not a lot really unless the boxes are absolutely pristine and matching and the loaded rounds A1 condition.

It is not that unusual to find such ammunition, I know of a couple of 1000 rounds of mkVII ball in the original wooden crates sitting on a shelf right now. The ammunition is not particularly accurate either and is be kept by the owner as a curio and talking point only.

Forgot to add, the .303 Streamline SteveE has is superb looking stuff and rare as whatever so if you were to find a few boxes of that...

Streamline bullets are, um streamlined plus the head stamp.

Headstamp is .303 S.L. plus the maker codes

The brass I have also has the lower 1/4 of the case blackened.

Mine are Kynoch made, in white 10-rd packets for Churchills of London.

The 1955 ammo - I'd shoot it - possibly also shoot the 45 dated stuff too, but then I sell on the cases of wartime stuff to re-enactors are inert ammo.

Shoot most of it and keep a little that maybe worth something. I got a batch of 50 rounds in charger clips years ago, shot all but 5 which are now kept as a curio

I have 5 rounds of 1955 RG .303 which I will never fire. No idea about their history - for all I know they're reloads in original cases - but they look like the real deal.
