Cleaning a muzzle-loading pistol barrel during a competiton

I've tried to search for the answer to this question, but not came across an answer anywhere: I seem to recall being told many years ago that during a B/P pistol comp (13 shots in 30 minutes, best 10 to count) that the rules did not permit cleaning the barrel during the comp itself.

Does anyone know if this is actually the case or not, and can point me at (presumably MLAGB) the rule somewhere?
