Aberdeenshire .308 Match ammunition

#1 Post by BlackburnBuccaneer »

Hello,
I am the Full-Bore captain for the Aberdeen universities Rifle Club in Aberdeen, Scotland. We have an upcoming target rifle practice competition on the 29th of April and then a university competition on May the 17th(Both at Glen Tilt). We have been terrible trouble finding suitable .308 Match ammunition and I am hoping someone here might be able to suggest something. All we have been able to get is 5 boxes of Federal American Eagle 150gr FMJBT which is neither of the quality or quantity we really need, but will do for practice. This was bought at sloans in inverurie, but I have also called all the local shooting dealers to no avail!

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking for match grade ammo contact HPS http://www.hps-tr.com/products/ammuniti ... omponents/

Tried the NSC (Bisley), HPS or any Bisley clubs (Some re-load their own match ammo to a high standard, might be able to help I guess).

Short of reloading yourself, Phaedra's suggestion of HPS -TR is the way to go. Very easy to deal with into the bargain.

Thanks for the replies, I did look at the HPS site but thought I would try local first. I think they may be a better solution though!

Are you in contact with the Scottish Rifle Association? They may have ideas, suggestions or better.

You may find that shipping anything from HPS or Bisley via specialist couriers is prohibitively expensive unless you can find someone already making the journey (or if HPS have a stockist local to you). Still worth enquiring though.

I have just been on the phone to HPS, I was surprised as to how reasonable their pricing is compared with factory ammunition!

I spoke to BlackburnBuccaneer/Jamie earlier (I'm his Dad) - I guess he's busy at present but AFAIK he's got fixed up with HPS.
