Dum Dum Dummies
Got bored, had solder, had brass, had bullets, made dummy rounds for the Mosin if and when it arrives.
I may give them a bit of a sanding to smooth the solder out, possibly some paint. The Primer is drilled
Can anyone see an issue with using these?
Big thanks to Phaedra and Badger for the components

Re: Dum Dum Dummies
It all depends on how tight your chamber is as to whether they will fit or not , as for the paint it will add to the thickness of the round and may cause it to stick in the chamber and this could also apply to the solder , what was the reason for the solder and are you chambering these in a live firing rifle or is just for show in a deact ?
A reloaded case and bullet without a primer would be sufficient .

Re: Dum Dum Dummies
I just used what I had Dave. Don't have any reloading equipment to resize the neck so the bullets were just slipping out.
They'll be going in a live-firing rifle aye.

Re: Dum Dum Dummies
OK I would clean them as smooth as possible , so as not leave any scratches in the chamber , forget the paint just a good polish , just push them in by hand first making sure they fit and slide out easily .

Re: Dum Dum Dummies
I would drill a few holes in the sides of the cases so there can be no mistaking which ones won't go bang
Re: Dum Dum Dummies
If they are to be used in a live rifle I would say this is essential, as is the removal of the primers.kennyc wrote:I would drill a few holes in the sides of the cases so there can be no mistaking which ones won't go bang
The original RG 7.62x51 DP rounds had a square dowel inside to support the repeated beating the bullets got.
Re: Dum Dum Dummies
the way i did my rounds was open up the primer hole all the way seat a bullet and drop in some solder through the primer hole and blow torch the lot ... that works well .....unless you have poly tips then its just a sad experience yet and easy way of making holo points
