Pointing soft nosed bullets

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

I was asked to see if it was possible to point soft nosed bullets and this is how they ended up, these are 6,5mm. I can close them down a bit further which will blend the meplat further however it did make me wonder what such an exercise will do to the expanding characteristics of the bullets. Does anyone have any thoughts on this please?

I wouldn't be worried about expansion, its not like you are covering the soft lead core, I'm not sure the whole exercise is worth the effort though, what you gain with the pointed bullet, you lose with the flat base ?
