cci Mini mag HP?

#1 Post by paxtond »

hi guys. went on a bit of a mission today with work.

after my meeting i spotted a gun shop and popped in to see if they had any CCI that I've been hunting for. was in luck they were, so grabbed 2,500.

just been putting them in my ammo safe and noticed they are 36grn hollow points and are labeled varmint. i normally get 40grn solids.

im a bit concerned that they are expanding ammo, what you guys think?

they look like these

I think you are correct.

waiting to see what every one else says.

I once found I had been given a sec2 shotgun not a sec1. I contacted the FET straight away and they were cool about it.

I'm afraid if you don't have expanding ammunition on the conditions of your certificate, then you shouldn't have it. These wouldn't fall within the "exemptions" on hollow point ammo.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Had the same problem last year, only noticed when I was putting it in the safe, see my post:

Depending on your club they may not like you using it if an indoor range and they have the linotex stuff on the backstop as it wears it out a lot quicker.

Almost made a similar mistake with cci subsonic as I thought it was the high velocity stuff but luckily noticed it at the till before it was too late.

Thanks for the advise guys, spoke to RFD first thing who said I do have expanding condition.

Have just checked and I infact do have the condition for expanding ammo even though I don't hunt and I didn't ask for it.

Still he agreed to swap them for 40gr solids. Excellent service as always

Good stuff! Hopefully even if you didn't have the HP condition common sense would prevail. fingerscrossed A 125,000 year sentence (2500 counts of a S5 offence) might have been bit harsh for a simple mistake :o

I thought that the words "Hollow Point" on the front of the box may have been a clue ;)

These are Brazilian sh!te and you will find that they are either very good or very bad. ;)
