Rearsight problem

I have a Musgrave TR with the original M&S rearsight, which is more or less a copy of the Parker Hale Model 4/47 rearsight. I shot the Imperial Meeting using a Parker-Hale 6-hole aperture, which I left on the largest hole throughout. On expert advice I bought a modern adjustable iris aperture and invested in an adaptor to fit the iris to the sight, which adds about half an inch to the length of the whole sight assembly.

Here lies the problem. The extra length means I can see that the aperture is pointing about ten degrees off to the left, rather than down to the foresight. I'm thinking this is a problem with the threaded hole on the sight that the aperture screws into.

Short of splashing out on a replacement rearsight, is there anything I can do about this?

Hello Gaz,
If the original PH aperture ring screwed into the sight body and wasn't on the cock then the problem lies with either of the new parts-or is there a possibility that you have managed to cross-thread one of the new parts on assembly? (it would probably have been tight screwing it in) or a mismatch of thread types ie a 2BA thread screwing into an M5 hole.
Might be worth one of the chaps at HPS or Fultons having a look at it to ascertain the exact cause of the problem.

Cheers. I don't think it was cross-threaded, it screwed in nice and easily. I did put the PH eyepiece back in and had a second look, and I'm not sure whether that's skewiff or not. Will need to take a second look.
