Cheap source for .451 lead round ball?
I don't fancy casting my own, but HK charge the best part of £20 for 100.
It doesn't feel like good value? Surely lead isn't that much? Are there any alternative sources people have used?

Yeah, cast your own....sadly it's the ONLY way to go for cost effective lead ammo
OR
Get a swaging kit & make them that way = but these have a very high outlay to get set up

You could speak to Jon17 of JD reloading on this forum, he may stock them and DodgyRog would be well worth asking as well.

Casting isn't as difficult or expensive as many people think, especially casting Round Ball.
You probably have all you need around the house/garage other than a mould and a dipper.
That way you are in control of your own supply and quality.

I'm mainly concerned about lead exposure - I already shoot a lot and even outside / in well ventilated areas and I don't want to join the purple hand brigade...
If somewhere does them reasonably cheap on here - maybe when bought in larger quantities I'd just make things a bit easier / cheaper for me.

What lead exposure?
So long as you wash your hands, don't pick your nose, scratch your arse, smoke or eat whilst casting and use dedicated clothing then the risks of lead exposure is nil. Not very demanding things to do that can be applied to a lot of other household situations.
The biggest and by far the biggest lead risk to shooters is shooting with the airborne lead dust from the primers, in casting the only risk is from touching the lead and you do that anyway when loading and that risk doesn't seem to put many people off.
I've been casting for nigh on 40 years now and have had no adverse effects, blood levels normal.
I wish I knew were this irrational fear of lead contamination when casting comes from.
