M1917 speed lock conversion
Does anyone know if the M1917 speed lock with cock on opening work on the P14 bolt? I have read that it significantly reduces lock time so would be curious to hear if anyone has tried it?
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
Used one on a P'14 some years ago, found it gave a very inconsistant let off, probably needed some work to smooth things out......I felt that gave no advantage over the original.....
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
I've had a Numrich Arms cock-on-opening speedlock kit on my P14 for many years and it works great.
Reputed not to work with certain after-market single stage triggers, but no problem with the Schultz & Larsen match trigger which I have.

My concern is the after market trigger as I have a Brindle fitted and would like to stop with it.
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
Does anyone know if these are legal in competitions, for 'As issued' obviously not but what about other .303 comps?
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
I think that as well as "as issued" most comps in which a .303 may be on a level playing field also have a "spirit of the original" type clause....otherwise all sorts of modern speedlocks and match triggers could be used, plus more modern scopes, etc.ovenpaa wrote:Does anyone know if these are legal in competitions, for 'As issued' obviously not but what about other .303 comps?
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
In Matches that are "Any .303 Rifle" they would be perfectly acceptable. The other side of the coin is how would anyone, apart from the user know as I am yet to see any form of "weapons control" in any classic type competition that I have shot in.ovenpaa wrote:Does anyone know if these are legal in competitions, for 'As issued' obviously not but what about other .303 comps?
Re: M1917 speed lock conversion
Good point Steve and it does make me wonder how many 'As issued' rifles truly are as described. I know you and I have talked about this on more than one occasion. As with any form of competition people will always try and push the boundaries...
