Mosin nagant cast boolit data wanted
I have decided to have a pop at the cast boolit bench rest comp with my Nagant its fitted with a Darrel mount and a short eye relief pistol scope so should be fun. I have never shot it with cast I don't think have to check my data if so the loads will be to much humph for in door any way. Any body got any recipes. Adam will the soup can boolits work in the Nagant if so what sort of powder charge do you reckon. In fact I could probably use it for the 100yard jobby as well.

For the 25yrd bench rest 5 gns of Vihtavuori N310 should do as should the soupcan.
For the 100 yrd load I'd use a fat Loverin design of +150gn with 20 gns Viht N120 or the 314299 200gns over 21 gns of Viht 120 velocities around 1400-1450 fps.
You could try the soupcan at 100 over 7 gns of Viht 310 for around 12-1300 fps, its a short stubby boolit for 100 yrds but you never know, try it and see.
Loads based on Ed Harris and Mattern data.

Always good to chronograph your loads, the more information you have about a load the better and safer, so long as you know how to interpret and apply the data, you will be.
