Scope Advice

#1 Post by Lyons »

Hi, I'm looking for a scope for my ruger 10/22 but finding it harder than expected. I bought one from JS Ramsbottom but it will be getting returned this week due to the quality of the turrets being crap.

up to 24 mag.
adjustable parrallax down to 10m
adjustable turrets under caps

This is the one I bought from Ramsbottom
http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/ri ... scope.html

Anyone know of anything similar that they can recommend?

Thanks
Scott

Fifty quid doesn't buy you much of a scope, what is your upper cash limit?

Yeah thought I'd try the JSR scope but wish I hadn't now haha. I'm just using it for gallery rifle so nothing too expensive upper limit would probably be £150 max but preferably <£100. I've got a Nikko Stirling Airking 4-12 but need more magnification for the .22 so 20 to 24.

Probably not what you'd think of looking at but . . . there's a Simmons Whitetail Classic (Philippines model) 1.5 - 5 x 20 for sale on the Stalking Directory, don't be fooled by the low max. magnification they are an excellent scope (Philippines version that is) with a very bright image and quality optics, ideal for gallery rifle.

Well I brought a Visionking from RSOV (yes they are an airsoft lot), after I spoke to the manufactuer in China who told me there scopes were rated for full bore and RSOV is a reseller.

http://www.rsov.com/manufacturer.php?ma ... tOrder=ASC

I have the 'Visionking' 1.25-5x26 rifle scope with R/B illuminated target dot reticle which some UK resellers have up for £125 + Vat + p&p, I think mine at the time was £65 all in.

Are you serious? A 24x magnification on a 22lr! At the bargain basement price you're shopping around at to.

It might have been back in the early 90s but we trained in the army, out to 800yds regularly with scopes half that mag.

I'm following the thread as I'm also after a higher magnification scope to have a dabble at .22 long range shooting with my Anschutz 54 - The reason for the higher magnification is so that I can see the holes at 100 yards...makes zeroing and practicing a lot more practicle.

I've seen a 'BSA Sweet Scope 8-32x44' on Amazon for £70 - From the comments (and my own limited scope experience), I find it hard to believe that the scope, at that money, will be any good (focusing both reticule and target) at the higher magnifications....anyone know this scope of have an opinion on it?
