.223 subsonic

Hi All
I was thinking of putting together some .223 subsonics, to plink with on the land I have permission to shoot over. I want to do this for two reasons: 1. Keep the cost down, less powder so more banging for my buck and 2. To keep noise down, whilst there is plenty of safe space to shoot on the land there are a few properties near-by so I don't want to annoy anyone by putting a load of rounds down range. In conjunction I will use a suppressor but the theory is to reduce the noise foot print.
IS this something anyone has done, or has any opinions/ comments on or any load data?
Looking forward to hearing all you're thoughts
regards

I had loads of fun with subsonics - 223 being one of them.
I used them in my 223 Saiga (1 in 7 twist) - the noisiest part was cycling the action.
I was using the load posted on the Hodgdon webite 3.1 grains of titegroup. I was using 55gn V-max bullets, which the rabbits didn't like!

great, I'll be using them in a 1 in 8 twist, so that sounds good! what was accuracy like? Did you use a suppressor?

Moderator, yes and the accuracy was good enough for the bunnies! The drop is the biggest limiting factor regarding accuracy - bullet choice will help.
There's isn't that much more to say other than the loading data works and I was happy with the results - try it and see.

Great, can't wait to try it! Just need to get a die set now (and the moderator)

Try without the mod first - to get a feel for them and to see what the accuracy is before and after you fit the mod.
I shot 7.62 subsonics using Hodgdon data out to 200m without a moderator and I was able to keep them in a fig 11 target.

Always shoot without a moderator first and check your holes are round in your target you don't want your bullets yawing and fouling the baffles in your mod .

Great Advice, thanks guys.
I thought subsonic .308 might do better than been kept on a fig 11, what sort of accuracy can you expect? My only experience is with .22rf subs which do fine in my standard factory guns

I was grouping under 2" at 100m without too much trouble with my 308 subsonic load

What bullets are you using?, I ended up with some 162gr lead round nose from Dodgyrog to try as the Hornady A-Max and Nosler CC 168s weren't stable and I had a few keyhole at 100m. I was using 8gr of Titegroup but found 10gr of Trail Boss better.
