Any ideas about it's history?

Nice isn't it. I have one of these too, sadly minus optics, but that's another story. Over iron sights, off a rest it will do 2" at 100 yards no bother. Trigger is a bit notchy but I will get around to that.

Just need the "Enemy at the Gate" DVD now

Christel had a PE Sniper, it would hold 1.25 MOA at 100m off a rest with milsurp light ball. Dirtbag on this forum is a bit of a MN sniper fan and certainly shoots his out to 1000 yards and maybe even more.

Hi Sandgroper,

Don't know of any war time history but the square stamp with a line through corner to corner is a Ukrainian Depot Refurbishment mark which they used during the 1960's info from a Mosin forum.

Indeed I am , some of you may of seen my Russain Pem sniper with the early Geco mount , not shot it alot.

The rifle in this thread has the wood refurb mark, the marking under the bolt is a recent one Jr (U.S)
The scope is post war made reproduction, but looks in very good nick.

Good snipers these.

Yes some have said it's a repro on other forums, but that does not bother me, it's all about how it shoots, and it out shoots a lot of more modern stuff even with me squeezing the trigger. I reload the ammo for it so I know what is the correct mix for it. Powder to FMJ bullet weight etc.

Good stuff bnz, I (like crystal) had a m9130 tula with a post war Repro PE with focus, which I sold to fund my period one. I sold a perfectly shooting gun just to fulfil my purism fetish... white coats are coming to get me ?

But I can honestly say at present that my 1st one would still outshoot my current Geco mounted Pem (and this gun cost 3 times as much as my 1st one)

Goes to show that you are correct on the quote "how it shoots" .

Me being abit of a purist doesnt help, or my bank account either !

You can however (if you wanted) get a period PU, if you need help with this let me know. I am a member of a mosin nagant fan forum who helped me with my new setup and can giv eyou pointers of what to look for.

Work on the trigger can pay dividends, I thinned my trigger spring down and also reduced the bolt spring in length, both these changes help reduce the trigger pull to something more acceptable. I would not advocate doing this on a Finn!

You may notice the trigger is unsprung until it reaches the first stage, there is an after market spring that can be fitted that will overcome this and I have a couple if anyone is interested.

Hi mate, yeah i remember you did a great job on yours, the trigger on mine feels like ive got to pull a train to make it go off.
