Tacticool Rifle Experiences

Basically the time has come for me and my Dad to sadly rid ourselves of our G22, and replace it with something 'tacticool' but are looking for some advise or wider experience.

Looking at either the ISSC, HK416, S&W M&P 15-22, SIG or the HK MP5A5.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Reviews have so far been pretty weak for all of them

Sadly CMMG stuff (or anything Lantac) is really beyond our price range. I know many will recommend 10/22s but really looking for something different, plus I have a personal dislike for them.

I know little of Spikes Tactical, thought they were primarily just .223 straightpulls

The HK's are actually made by Umarex as is the Colt which you have not mentioned. The ISSC also make the "Anshutz" version but with an Anshutz barrel and trigger.

The Sig and the S&W were specifically designed as training options for police depts who use the full bore versions of those guns.

Pe4king on here has an ISSC and really likes it. Another mate has the Colt and it has impressed me by being very accurate and very reliable. Likewise, I know one bloke with the HK MP5A4 which is a short version with a fixed stock and 12" barrel. I know half a dozen fellas with the Sig and they all love them.

I have an S&W which I don't ever envisage getting rid of, it's that good. I also have probably the bargain on the block at the moment. The GSG5. I've had mine 5 years and probably put 12K rounds through it. They can be picked up for pennies, relatively. These days.....

Specifically the 416 (handled and fired) and the MP5; their 'awfulness' is well documented. Construction, takedown and cleaning is 'toylike'. I personally wouldn't go near a clone but that's just me. OP's budget may dictate otherwise of course and ultimately they're good blasters I suppose.

7.62 - you have an awful lot to say about a lot of stuff, which is great on a forum - but it is also wiser not to bad mouth stuff that you have actually no idea about.

Maybe worth "reading" some of the reviews of all the guns mentioned and then if you are lucky when you get back to the mainland (AR15 clones are not widely used in NI - as they are only for club use - which it would appear you have not yet joined?)

Both the Sig and the Sw work faultlessly and are cracking firearms. As Sim has pointed out so is the CSG5 and the HK despite what you might "read" in the real world most of them work really well, providing like all stuff you look after it and know how to keep it functioning.

I find it difficult to see what you found wrong with the 416 you tried? - I've yet to see one fail to feed a round or fail to eject, whilst the accuracy in my opinion is not as good as the Sig nor the SW - it is more than good enough for what it is designed.

Personally I run a Sig 522 SWAT for my fun .22lr - apart from the issue of shooting prone with the Black Dog 30 round mags, I have no complaints about it whatsover and it will empty magazines without fault (unless you put grease on the bolt assembly and try and shoot it on a very cold day in Wales!)

They run better with a very light lube.

I would recommend Sig 552 or S&W M&P 15-22. IMHO the former is more tacticool and realike whilst the latter probably has a better reliability track record. The latest version of the 15-22 actually has good reviews but note it is polymer and has more of s toy feel than some other .22s
