Shooting aspirations
I was thinking about my shooting tonight and I have come to the conclusion that my original aspiration to stick a round in a fag packet at 600m first shot with a rifle I can walk to the point with still stands. No clutter, just lie down and shoot. I am obviously a person of simple needs and this probably explains my progression to the S Class concept.
I know the Viking is only interested in shooting groups at long distances these days plus a sudden and quite worrying interest in owning and shooting SOWR's
I would be interested to hear other peoples shooting aspirations,

As for fullbore it has to be similar, max possible score at any distance

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

emm, I just want to be able to shoot how I want, where I want and for as long as I want......esentially, if i could choose how to die then it would be a toss up between as a very old man and with a rifle in my grip or on top of Kate Bekinsale (her wearing only the corset of course).

Re: Shooting aspirations
Shooting aspirations - just to shoot and keep on shooting!

Re: Shooting aspirations
A decent trophy boar. I've shot boar a few times but I don't have a reasonable set of tusks to show for it. I have a space set out on the lounge wall in anticipation of one day achieving my dream.
I also want to shoot a good fallow buck off my own permission using one of my double rifles. I have shot a good many deer over the years but they have all been shot using a bolt action rifle, my doubles have been blooded but only on boar not on deer. It would just be nice to take a reasonable buck off my own ground with one of these rifles.

I think Scotsgun sums it up nicely.
Dunno about the corset though.

Re: Shooting aspirations
It's a good question because I find that it's this sort of goal-driven thinking that motivates me to train and practice hard. To get the best out of this approach, it's necessary to break the goal down into component steps, e.g. technical shooting ability, windreading, equipment etc... and think about how to achieve these sub-goals. Being the kind of person I am, I write all of this sort of thing down and track progress in a spreadsheet (really, it's quite sad!) If this sort of thing interests you, you might want to read the article I wrote for the 2011 GB Palma Team Brochure, "Training for Modern Fullbore". The Brochure can be downloaded from http://palma11.gbrt.org.uk/sites/gbrt.o ... ochure.pdfovenpaa wrote:I would be interested to hear other peoples shooting aspirations,
Previous goals have been to get my first GB cap, shoot in my first Queen's Final, come in the top 50 in the Grand, shoot in all big five matches, qualify for the 2006 & 2010 Commonwealth Games. My key goal for 2013 is to win the Welsh trials for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Cheers,

Not to come last in F-class World Champs next year
Will be long 4 years to pull off another EURO surprise :lol: razz
In the meantime :
Try and do a F-class target full house
at 1000 yards
15 = 150/15
20 = 200/20
may as well go big or go home!
