Purely to keep the facts straight, the Sportsman's Association was formed in response to the legislation following the Dunblane atrocity, and had as its initial objective one million members at £5 each to initiate a purely political campaign. I was at the meeting at Bisley at which it was formed. I don't know how many members we got. It was quite a few but nothing like the target. The campaigning was correspondingly limited.

Another option is form our own Political Party like the Shooters and Fishers Party in Australia http://www.shootersandfishers.org.au/

Might not win any seats at the next election but could make life difficult for some Politicians in marginal seats.

We can but try Blu, in the States, a deluded murdering idiot walks into a cinema and lets rip with an AR15, not to mention the other atrocities committed in US schools, that seem to come depressingly thick and fast these days.......What happens, err, well, nothing really!

Obama makes a lot of PR friendly noise about banning "assault Rifles" but all his bluster turned into a damp squib......so I don't buy the Liberal anti agenda is just as strong, the evidence clearly shows its impudent in the US!!

In the UK....or the rest of the world for that matter, a single incident of this nature, would have dire consequences for the shooting community, look what happened here and in Australia after such atrocities were committed!

Assault rifle ban.........christ, the Australians aren't even allowed to own a deactivated M16 or an L1A1!!!!

I hear what you are saying Blu about us getting proactive, we live in a very different country than you, we will all do what we can mate!

Think yourself lucky your Firearms are safe.....!

Right, and how did you think that happened, did they have lots of nutters committing massacres as well? Or did the government just decide to take them all away therefore punishing the law abiding instead of dealing with the real issues and enforcing the laws they already had in place.
I hear what you are saying Blu about us getting proactive, we live in a very different country than you, we will all do what we can mate!
Yep and you're going to lose your guns because you aren't proactive enough, you may live in a different country mate but the antis here are just as rabid as the antis there, that's the one thing we have in common.

Australia had the Port Arthur shooting in the same year as Dunblane. Firearms law is controlled by the States, but the Conservative Govt bullied and pressured the States into toeing the line.

This and other restrictions on shooting is why the Shooters and Fishers Party came into being - http://www.shootersandfishers.org.au/

BTW it is entirely possible to own deact's in Australia but they are classed as firearms!

what strikes me as hard to believe, is the stupidity and quite frankly the p***yness of the mainland members of the public; most seem to want a total disarmed law abiding citizenry but are very happy and even want, at the same time, more fire power given to plod ! isnt that called a police state !

Why, when there's an attrocity in the US, do the Govt NOT succeed in taking guns off it's citizens?

Have a think.

I've mentioned it before.

No, it's not the Second Amendment (alone).

Got it yet?

It's sheer NUMBERS (read VOTES).

It is ONLY with greater numbers that we can hope to gain a loud enough voice.

Next time you go to the range, bring someone new.
