Section 1 shotgun " Good Reason "

If you want to shoot PSG then you'll need somewhere to shoot it - so that's either by invite to other clubs that shoot it (pay a range fee on the day) or via UKPSA or F4i matches (or perhaps Target shotgun via NRA?)

So - unless your club hosts it's own PSG matches (or allows others to do so at your range) then one way or another you'll find you're paying to shoot PSG wherever you go - be it UKPSA or F4i Membership.

I'm not clear on what your current clubs situation is - is it that individuals who are members shoot PSG elsewhere - or that none club members use your clubs range for PSG?

Sorry, I'll elaborate a little- there is a club near me that a few members I know use on a pay for entry basis, but unless I have a section 1 I am unable to use that club. I have no issue with travelling to events, even spending a weekend away, to be honest I'm finding the community with this sport a lot more accommodating and friendly.

I would happily join f4i, does this allow me to turn up to their hosted events and join in with other members? Or would I have to book alone?

Same applies to Bisley really, it's another avenue I would like to go down, the more options I have to shoot, the better in my opinion.

Home Office guidance states that ALL Section 1 multishot shotguns ARE conditioned for clay pigeon.
Police Scotland (Edinburgh area) view this as optional & they refuse to comply with said guidance.
(SOME Police Scotland areas DO automatically add the condition)

Nothing wrong with that Personally I find it gets quite boring, quite fast though. You also have to keep in mind keeping your FLD happy you have a 'good reason' to own the gun and we all know how 'funny' some can be when it comes to grey guns like S1 shotguns, LBP's etc

If your club is NRA affiliated then you are perfectly entitled to shoot PSG at Bisley and there is your suitable range for your application process. Doesn't matter where you live as there are trains, cars, etc. to get you there.

Effectively this is what myself and some clubmates do- go down to Shield Shooting Centre every couple of months and pay the daily range fee. One of our guys is only a member of our club, which only has a small bore range (though via the county association and another connection we have access to two outdoor ranges for centrefire usage), and his "only" good reason is those day visits to Shield. His FLD had no problem with that to grant him S1 shotgun. As per my posts last year, my good reason was "Target Shooting" as per all my other firearms.

Competition requirement/UKPSA/4 Islands membership exclusivity for S1 shotgun is a red herring.
