Re: Mike Yardley's positiveshooting.com - Facebook
As I have said on here many times before gun ownership is the "elephant in the room" when it comes to shooting.
That is the key to it all, disciplines, gun types etc are totally irrelevant.
You are either deemed a fit person to own firearms or not, the type is of no consequence but it is used by our bigoted anti gun ownership enemies as lever to chip away at gun ownership.
Unfortunately this area of debate has been engaged with by our national bodies and self serving numpties like Yardley and Frances so we are dancing to the anti gun agenda which means we will always be on the back foot, defensive and coming to the table as a supplicant.
When it comes to firearms ownership it is the person that should be certified not the guns, gun types and disciplines are just a distraction and noise that allows our "representatives" to avoid the real issue that unifies us all, gun ownership.

Could have written that myself Dromia. Absolutely spot on from my stance.
I'm not on Pidgewatch Blackstuff. Should I be there sowing my brand of education or are you guys on the case all ready? Good graphic!

I've attempted to, and helped get some of the worst offenders barred from the site
But you get rid of one and two more spring up in their place. I normally chime in when it kicks off but get tired of the ridiculousness once all of the points have been argued for the 12th time
Honestly, sometimes it reads like you've accidentally clicked on the GCN site by mistake

Thanks FrankCountryman wrote:Im sorry to bang on about this "unity" concept again but Mikes attitude is something we should have stamped out long ago. I don't think there is anyone here per se but this attitude that FClass or Pheasant or Deer Stalking is somehow better than IPSC or Service rifle is crazy. The holier than thou and prepared to sacrifice your gun to save mine attitude was what we saw after Hungerford and Dunblane.
We are all shooters first and foremost. The anti's don't give a hoot about our disciplines. They want our guns gone.
"Unity" there you go DavefirearmsUK I've ended up banging your drum after all.

In all seriousness I'm not going to say too much on the issue as people are entitled to their opinion but I will just reiterate Firearms UK position and share what we published on facebook and hope that shooters agree with our stance and the "unity" message
"Given the “noise” on numerous shooting forums over the last few days we feel we need to make our position clear.
We support ALL shooting sport styles and disciplines as long as they are performed in a responsible manner and as safely as reasonably possible.
We oppose further restrictions and actively campaign for reform in order to undo the unnecessary damage that has been done to shooting sports in the past.
We believe that the causes of violence are social and economic and have no relationship to lawful “gun” ownership.
We encourage civilized debate and exploration of facts and evidence.

The thing to watch Dave is that Mike is not answering any of the serious points raised. He seems to be revelling in this noise he has made. He has another 150 likes in the last couple of days which is natural from folks who want to see what the "insert rude descriptive" is saying now.

What publications does Yardley still write for?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
