Mike Yardley's positiveshooting.com - Facebook

Yes, I know dromia; you hate social media...let's not debate the pro's and con's of that in this thread ;)

Has anyone seen MY's posts in the last few days on FB?

Summed up by this by him:
A statement of my prejudice. I don't like video games that involve mass killing. I don't think sporting shooters should pretend to be soldiers, policemen or members of special forces. Generally, I think guns which have a modern military look don't have much place in the shooting sports and give quite the wrong impression to the public. They may also foster unhealthy fantasies...
Not a great public comment from a British shooting journo...

Some good comments on the thread, and some really disappointing ones :(

Some people on our side are our own worst enemies, when will people like Mick Yardley get it into his skull that the people who don't like us having guns don't care what they look like either way and just don't want us to have them.

Also if people like him had been around in the 19th/early 20th century he'd have been moaning about Lee enfield's not having a place in shooting sports. What an utter cretin.

He did this a little while ago, not long after Dick Wolfe did it in the States. Yardley retracted at the time because the magazines he wrote for were going to sanction him. Those publications "forgave" him. I haven't bought a copy of Shooting Sports or Gunmart since. Nor will I do as long as they have an association with him.

I met Yardley on a number of occasions, at the time of the pistol debacle. I could never put my finger on it then, why I didn't particularly "take" to the man. Then when this happened, I had my Eureka moment.... I didn't take to him because deep down I knew he was a cock!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Always came across as ex-public school, ex-guards, ex-city banker type; turned self-styled expert/journalist with a bit of big-game-hunter white-bwana wannabe

A plums (or Pimms) in the mouth version of Pete Moore...as much integrity as a bunga-bunga financed crack deal

Kept a distant eye on this via RacknLoad,

I thought he would have learnt his lesson the first time round, total hypocrite who is in utter denial, claiming he was having overwhelming support from the shooting community regarding his stance, BS, he was berated for it constantly, occasionally back tracked only to make his stance clear yet again.

Start a list of shooting related suppliers and publications that fund his intake of calories...remove from the list if they distance themselves.
