Far easier surely just to drop in with other local clubs as a guest, they may or may not shoot at bisley depending on location, no need to join the NRA for that alone.

I suspect most plod licensing offices would accept that 'till the outcome of the investigation.

That depends on the club, I'm sure other clubs would accommodate members under those circumstances and arrangements could be put in place. All that is needed is a friendly chat 'tween club secretaries, there is always a way.

You would think so mate, but I am sure I was told this 2 guest shoots a year (only being allowed as a guest twice) was a HO thing...not sure to be honest.

It always struck me a shame that my club could not have a reciprocal arrangement so that the Non Effers could get more conventional targets with another club and their Effers could shoot F comps with us.

I think I should point out that there were two issues surrounding the Kingsbury incident,
1) the ammunition incident for which we now have the technical report,

2) the allegation made that the RCO failed to follow proper procedures immediately following the incident. There were several clubs shooting that day, the shooter in question and RCO were from different clubs.

The RCO's club lost its MOD range licence pending inquiries into the RCO conduct. This has been resolved and the club is now back at Kingsbury and other MOD ranges.


Just as a side note if the rifle had blown up on a private club range and there no life threatening injuries I suspect there would be no "offical" inquiries into the incident.

Probably just as well he wasn't involved in the Piper Alpha investigation then (otherwise we would still be waiting for it).
Remember ... timely distribution of information pertaining to incident immediate / root causes is critical in preventing recurrence.

Sometimes information comes out straight away if it is crucial to safety, sometimes a fuller investigation takes longer.

Sorry karen once again you miss my point, why has it taken this long into the thread to find out that it was the RCO's club that was banned not the re loaders? It puts a different spin on the whole thing!

I see someone has "edited" my post - I stand by what I said and quite simply if you intend to censor me then I am not going to bother commenting further on this thread.
