I think people should challenge his views respectfully , everyone is entitled to their view including Mike Yardley. I don't think Shooting sports supporters should want to come across as bullies because someone has a different view from them.

That just wouldn't happen now, if someone turned up at a club here like that they would be told politely where to go, and not to come back.

I occasionally shoot at a Range which is totally run for profit (not a Club) and is about 80% day-shooters (you pay a fee & you can shoot for the day - no 'membership'). I go there because it's the only place I can shoot longer ranges (out to 200 meters) than at my smallbore Club. They have "Action Ranges" for 3-gun, Cowboy Action, stuff like that & you would not believe the get-ups some of these guys arrive in. The only thing missing is a helmet (and I'm sure I'll see that one day... ) - full camo, boots, chest-rig, ammo pouches, knife, body armor, weird fingerless gloves (even when it's 30'C. ). Total feckin' wannabe's - if you want to run around in all that gear, join up - they'll give you all that sh!t for free and pay you too (well, not that much, but still...). I dunno, I burned my BDU's as soon as I got home after my hitch. I stay as far away from these idiots as possible......

So what? People can wear whatever they want, within reason, your little rant there is pretty much what Mike Yardley says, maybe go join him.
Quite often people here will wear full camo waterproofs, chest rigs for rapid shotgun loading in pairs, mag pouches for CSR and gloves too if it's cold. For all you know they're law enforcement, military or competitive shooters, don't be so ignorant.

If you view them as suspect for wearing military type clothing, then maybe you feel civilians should not shoot military type rifles neither ?

I am sick of this " perception" bullshit. Had the same thing recently at CSR - too much camo apparently giving us a bad image. So, get rid of the camo but we still shoot military type rifles at military type targets in a military type course of fire.

Its funny the number of firearms officers I came across in the Police and also ex-military who came out with the same pathetic "if you want to shoot join up - civilians should not be allowed to have guns".

Second time in this thread I have had to address the language issue.

This is not GoM and is open for all to see, we get more guests visiting here than members so the rule of thumb is don't put up anything you wouldn't want your wife and/or children to see/hear.

There is more to what Mike Yardley said the clothing they were wearing. He is not on his own regarding clothing.

CODE OF DRESS UKPSA/IPSC PRACTICAL SHOTGUN COMPETITIONS
INTERNATIONAL PRACTICAL SHOOTING CONFEDERATIO.
With the exception of serving military or police personnel who may wear their normal service clothing, any clothing, or combination of clothing, which has a paramilitary style is considered inappropriate at UKPSA competitions. Camouflage clothing of any irregular pattern is specifically banned.
