If you do that then you require everyone to have their own insurance, everyone to have their own SCC's, everyone must be an FAC holder, and to shoot at Bisley they have to be individual NRA members. How is that any different or better than the situation as it is now, in which anyone can organise a shoot for a group who meets the criteria above (depending on the range)? It seems to me that a club for NRA members only would involve a load of effort to operate with little or no benefit. The idea of creating a club was spawned when people wanted to shoot at a Bisley event organised on here, but who couldn't because they weren't an individual NRA member.

Agreed. Attracting people who are not direct members of the NRA is the goal so non NRA and NRA members of the forum can shoot side by side. We need more 'Non NRA member interest to make it worth while.

There you go again Bisley. If the idea is to shoot at Bisley then the answer is no.I live in the North East I have no intention of traveling to Bisley.

Would BASC or membership of any other shooting organisations who also do insurance cover be suitable?

The idea of forming a club has been clearly stated as being to shoot at various ranges around the country, Bisley among them. My argument is that there is little benefit forming a club that requires people to be NRA members. Since you oppose my point you think people should have to be NRA members, but you clearly don't want to shoot at Bisley. Seems quite illogical to me.

No, but you've cut out the point I was making.

There's a down side to requiring club members to be individual NRA members: a lot of effort (and some cost) to run the club, and little benefit compared to the ad hoc organised shoots that have previously been run or proposed. I just don't see the point. It also increases the focus of the club towards Bisley, which is increasingly a dirty word (I've just been attacked for suggesting that NRA membership should NOT be a pre-requisite, purely because my post included th 'B' word in a statment of fact that was nothing to do with me!).
