Y'see decrying folks as wannabe's is exactly what's wrong with this sport....one could level that same tag to people who do IPSC...wanna be pistol combat shooters or whatever. No offence.ordnance wrote:

I know here its not a matter of safety when not at the firing point its more they doint want people wandering around the facility like wannabes. When not at the firing point its left at the safety point or boxed. There are plenty of IPSC training courses here.

I agree that there will be training in Ireland but at the end of the day if one cannot remove a magazine (or empty chambers) and clear a firearm without help something is far wrong. As for being holstered loaded, do not faff about with it and it is perfectly safe.

according to their website, with 1.5 year waiting list, and £185 membership fee, got to say, they aren't exactly selling themselves to me, especially as it seems a small range with a total of 10 firing points. Give portishead shooting club a shout, the nights I go aren't usually full of BP revolvers or LBRs but I know the Saturday shooters are.
If that is the club rules then fine but how many of those rules are based on lack of knowledge in the first place.As for being safe yes it is, but you have to abide by the rules of whatever club you are shooting at or competition you are shooting.
Good question, is it not IPSC rules show clear to RO at firing point. I doint see it as lack of knowledge not carrying pistols around after shooting cleared and boxed or left at safety area.
