So it looks like its twelve bob/issue to download the PDF now but still free to read online (?).

Looks like the magazine is going through some fundamental changes, not to my liking personally as the technology gets in the way of the content, no doubt costs have to be covered and the advertising revenue doesn't seem to be covering it so hence the charge for downloads I presume. Still all this flash techy stuff is adding to the overheads, I suppose its where you place the value. Me, I prefer content to technology.

How about yearly subscriptions as well as pay per issue, perhaps at a reduced rate for one or two year subscriptions.

My iPad app is offering me an annual subscription this morning for £5.49, which I think is great value. :good:

Still no sign of the August edition though. :(

Guys,

Target Shooter will remain free to read on-line.

We are not trying to get rich out of this but neither can we subsidise it out of our own pockets.

There will be an annual subscription available soon but we've only just got the pdf. available - and it's proving to be quite popular.

The Apple app? Beats me but I hope it's up soon!

Vince I'm not criticising your financial model (just the bling technology ;) :D ) and I don't expect you to work for nothing either. I just don't understand how its free to read but costs twelve bob to down load a PDF.

Just think of it as a digital library where you can go online and read the mag for free, however if you want to take it away with you either on your iPad or other laptop etc to read at your leisure and keep then you have to buy the copy.

Not really that far removed, however I could expand it and bring it more inline by saying that at most libraries you can read the daily papers FOC but they have to stay there, if you want a copy of your own to keep and read anywhere you want to away from the library aka the internet then you have to buy your own copy i.e. the pdf you can read offline or print off etc. It is really a convenience fee I suppose, I buy the iPad version when Apple lets me which means I can read it wherever I may be and go in and out of it and pick up where I left off. Yes its possible to do this online just not as convenient and I am happy to pay for that, how much is a different matter. A new question would be, if TS was available in the newsagent as Target Sports used to be and Sporting Rifle which absorbed Target Sports is, how much would you pay for Target Shooter if at all? I guess that would be the true test of whether or not the content suits rather than the delivery.

Libraries have limited copies of titles the internet has no such limitations, no print costs.

My eyes will not allow me to read much text on screen so I bought an ebook which is easier on the eyes and for that I need PDF or text files. So I do not have the option of reading on screen therefore the library option is closed for me.
