Thanks Joe that certainly does help.

I have been speaking to a guy in the states, who I have purchased from before.
He is goin to mod' some old 8mm mauser-8x57 RCBS dies where the full length size die reduces the outside neck diameter to .335" and inside of a Federal brand case is about .310". He will grind the expander to about .316 for a cheap price

Reloading components over here are a rip off for start, find the right people and you can save some money (as long as you don't mind waiting)

Why wouldn't it work ?

A set of Lee RGB dies from Kranks is £18 plus £4 postage. You just need some one to stick the expander in a lathe and reduce it to .318. If that's the way you want to go. Job done.

Thanks much appreciated, there is another option after all.

It may be worth mentioning that I am not going to be doing any hardcore shooting with this, 100 / 200 yards messing around with the father, not looking for holes touching.
So if this method works,safe, and gets this old girl going again, I'm all for it

100/200 yards is fine I'm all for getting these old girls shooting again. If I can do any thing to help you get her shooting again you are welcome. Milsurps are my passion this modern stuff is just a money pit. Bench rest. F class you can keep it. A few hours on the range with good friends and a bit of banter. Priceless.

It's refreshing to find someone that thinks the same as me, all the Rem 700 shooters with their 40x mag scopes at our club laugh at me when they see my old WW1 and WW2 rifles, until I hit the vbull at 300yds with an iron sight rifle, their not laughing then ! Sorry OP didn't mean to take over !

No need to apologise, I am the same. Everytime I show up at the ranges with my milsurp gear I get the "what is that , is it an enfield"? , I reply , "no, it's a Krag–Jørgensen"
