Advice wanted on loading for my couldn't be more awkward G88
Hi all as posted in the show and tell, I have an old J bore Gew88 rifle that I wish to get going.
I have slugged the bore and it slugs at .316 (Czech issued barrel)
Now I have the boolit that I want, that I can run through a custom .317 sizer and gas checked.
This issue now as you may guess is the dies, I have 8x57 Lee dies, but of course the mouth is opened too wide , thus the boolit being too lose.
Does anyone have any suggestions please on what options (if any) I can do, new dies, etc
Thanks

Re: Advice wanted on loading for my couldn't be more awkward
Polish the expander = smaller expander = less case neck expansion = less wobbly bullet seating
Re: Advice wanted on loading for my couldn't be more awkward
Personally I would use the 8.57 dies with out the expander rod as a body die. I would make a bushing neck die to neck the case down to .316 then use a expander to open the case mouth up to .317.
I have never re loaded for this caliber my self. Adam is probably your man.

I use CH-4D dies for this calibre.
Never use expander plugs they are an abomination. Use a suitably sized M die expander

Hi thanks very much for this, what size do I go for please ?
It says "Use a expander that is .001" over your bullet size for best fit", but I am using cast bullets, is this still the case ?
Re: Advice wanted on loading for my couldn't be more awkward
The one in the link .318 that Adam posted should be OK.

Hi I have purchased that part, so I guess I need to buy the Lee Universal Neck Expanding die and fit this in ?
What happens to my 8x57 brass that is already sized to .323 , can I run them through this ?
