Yes that was a thread with some poor quality posts but it was still shooting related, so not double standards.

We have no control over content other than removing posts & threads which we are very loath to do, sometimes threads get locked or direction is given in the thread, at the end of the day posts stand and it is up to the reader to attach whatever value they choose to someone's opinion.

At the end of the day we make a call and that is it, such calls are rarely black and white even although it may seem like that, some will like it some won't but what is done is always done with the best interests of the forum at heart.

Initially we let it run give it a chance to stay shooting related and then it got forgotten about, we don't read all the posts all of the time believe it or not, a point was made today about it not being in GOM we reviewed the thread and thought it appropriate to move it which all takes us back to where this thread started.

A point was made by whom? It is shooting related in that what right do a bunch of unelected officials have to make laws on the sport in the UK. Every comment on that thread showed how much sportsmen and women are disgusted that it may and probably will happen.

It was nothing more than lets rip the crap out of Mike Yardley and you know it.

Well you have your view so there is no more to discuss as I am certainly not going to argue with you over this, obviously we disagree so move on.

There is no more to discuss because you refuse to, it's your way or the highway. So much for fair and open discussion that the forum so prides itself on. wallhead

I propose a compromise.

Adam is correct in that the thread had morphed into a general discussion and as such was no longer wholly shooting related. But as he himself says in his post announcing the threads arrival in Grumpy Old Men (GOM) it is a far bigger issue than shooting itself. Indeed it is the most important decision we will make as voters in our lifetime. General elections, let's face it, elect a broadly similar government from the nowadays vey similar LibLabCon cabal. This is different.

I can understand and respect the wishes of those that do not wish to enter GOM, where this subject would normally reside. So what to do?

I propose that up to the referendum itself that a new sub-forum be created for posts on the referendum, to be removed when it has taken place; and only to contain referendum relevant posts.

Tom.

Tom, that happens a lot on here without threads being moved, basically it's just nitpicking on the part of the Moderator.

The link to shooting is tenuous as the discussion isn't about that but the bigger issues and the poll was a straight in/out.

We had this discussion on the previous thread that was moved there.

You are welcome to disagree but it will not change anything.
So Her gruppen furher has spoken? my bit of fun poll 'shall we stay or shall we go' also in my opinion very relevant to the sport & its future was similarly moved too under similar absolute terms - you mods are going the right way about alienating the members are you not?
