Ah....the Balashnikov, started out as a lightly modified AKM then had the Finnish Valmet thrown into the mix.To be fair I wouldn't mind a straight pull Galil.......now where's my Kippah?.

The first Galils were built using Valmet receivers with AR-15 barrels.

LEW in South Africa used to make a pump action R4, the H4, for the civilian market, like our straight pulls there was no gas port in the barrel and the piston was ground off. They stopped making them after the 90's as civvies were allowed semi-auto rifles again.

Errr....no, to be honest I don't like the Vz that much.Shot a few and didn't really like it, including the MARS version which is a step in the right direction but a lot of money for what it is (in my opinion, that of others will vary) especially as European dealers can pick up semi-auto Vz's for around €75 apiece plus taxes.

Don't get me wrong the Vz is lighter, more compact and is more accurate (in semi-auto mode) than an AKM.....

The Vz didn't seem to fit me as well as an AK, I'm more used to the shorter "Warsaw Pact" length stock whereas the Vz's I've tried have had a longer stock......I dare say if I had Vz's for quite a while and then tried an AK it would be the same situation as I suppose it's what you are used to.
