Don't forget chaps, the RFD in question can as a business owner, add any further conditions to a sale that they see fit, in the firearm act or not.

It's a good job you didn't buy a rifle from one of the RFD's that said it was OK... I'm not ever sure what would happen in that situation. Would the police charge you with being in unlawful possession or would they just confiscate it pending a variation. Just goes to show how confusing firearms laws can be at times...

Yeah I'm not sure where I'd have stood legally.

I bought my Nagant on a 7.62/.308 slot, I have also bought ammo regarding this allocation as well. I currently have a 7.5mm slot and would expect to be able to buy either a K31 or a MAS 36.

Where your FAC has authorisations stating ".308/7.62mm" this refers solely to 7.62mmx51 NATO as this is equivalent to .308 Winchester. 7.62mmx54R or 7.62mmx39 would have to be stated explicitly on your certificate for you to acquire a rifle in these calibres as neither is equivalent to .308 Winchester.

308 doesn't state 308 winchester either though.
