what length is the barrel ? is there the case capacity to increase the barrel length ?

with those solids you are using are you restricted to where you can use them?

and I guess at 2 miles even the mighty 50 bmg has transitional problems through the transonic zone , what range does your load go subsonic?

Two Miles with a Rifle Mind you I've shot at that range on Otterburn/Salisbury/Sennybridge ranges, BUT! It was 50 years ago and with a 25Pdr Field Gun firing a 25Lb shell ahead of around two pounds of Cordite.

Out of curiosity I dug out my old Range Tables and had a look at data for that range. Note the circular error probability at that range.

Absolutely amazing that you can do that with a Rifle.

The barrel is 37 3/4 "plus the brake - yes it could go longer, but it is the optimum length for the both the 750 Amax and our Solids - We are very limited where we can use the solids in the UK, but the A-max are fine on MOD ranges.

The solids go transonic at around 2400 depending on environmentals, the A-max a little sooner.

Some of the US lads have started building 50" + Tubes using 1000gr and heavier solids for the extra distance - We simply cannot chase them with that - We do not have the capacity for the extra rifles etc.

So we have to strike a balance. I have 2 .50s and they have to be able to do all the classes.

25pdr - Targets at 18" wide by 30" tall!!

And it was oh so quiet too, couldn't have been more than 30 people there I reckon.

This is an interesting read - shooting rifles at 2 miles, 21 second flight time - a hundred and fifty years ago.
